Lillian is a third daughter in Victorian England, all but forgotten by her family. She is the consummate loner until the evening she meets the handsome Alex. Alex is a vampire and Lillian knows it. She wants to be with him throughout time. He makes it happen. And then he disappears from her life after promising her forever. Down but not out, Lillian journeys to America and sets out to be the strong, independent woman she could never be with her family.

Over the next hundred years, Lillian amasses a fortune in wealth as a savvy business woman. She surrounds herself with influential people, human and vampire alike. She is ever beautiful and rich. Life is good. Until, that is, Lillian decides to return to England and look at some possible hotel properties. . . and to revisit the place she last saw Alex in the hope of once and forever vanquishing him from her heart.

Then she meets Chase, who seems like the perfect candidate to make her forget and begin again in a new, exciting relationship. But Chase isn’t who he seems to be either.

I am not a huge lover of vampire stories, but I thoroughly enjoyed “Lillian, a Vampire Tale” by Elizabeth Loraine and Bertena Varney. It’s the story of a vampire, yes, but a very different vampire who becomes a vampire to be with the man she loves and then has to turn her life 180 degrees around. The other thing I liked is that these vampires are a bit different. They are not the sparkly Cullens of "Twilight" fame, but a more sophisticated type of vampire. The vampires in Lillian’s story rarely kill, police their own and interact well with humans.

This story would make a great read on a rainy afternoon with a cup of tea.

Lillian a vampire tale eBook Elizabeth Loraine Bertena Varney Reviews

I really liked this short book. I think it will make a fantastic series. The cliffhanger ending was enough to make me want more. Ive enjoyed all of the books from this author and am hooked on her other series. If you liked this book you should read the vampire chronicles she wrote. I am eagerly waiting for more on both of these series. Great easy reads!
Just a piece of a story. Not a great purchase.
Even though this is a novella it is enough to buy the next in the series. Like her other series I wasn't disappointed. Looking forward to the next
I am changing my review since there is another book on the way. I am happy that there will be more because I like these charachters and the style of the writing. The words flow smoothly and makes for a great reading experience. I like the way these charachters grew with the book. In order to avoid spoilers alls I can say is that I was not expecting the outcome of one of the characters and liked that unique twist in the story.I realy liked this story and found myself getting lost in it. Something that is rare for me. Thanks for letting me know there is another book on the way!
Interesting short story. Fun, quick read on your lunch break or car ride. Neat how the author spans so many years in a novelette. Could use another pass through the editing phase for punctuation, extra or wrong words, etc. Not a huge deal --the story overcame the editing.
Elizabeth Loraine very quickly became my favorite author after reading this. This was the 2nd of her books that I read. Now I've read many of her books. She just writes well and makes her characters come alive ... even if they are un-dead.
I have read all of Elizabeth Loraine's books, and have enjoyed them all. Lillian is a short novell with a good plot line, and interesting characters. I don't like going over a whole book in a review because than I will be cheating you from a great read. Everyone will have there own opinion and I just want to wet there taste buds.
